I’ve long enjoyed Van Gogh and was fortunate enough to visit Monastère Saint-Paul-de-Mausole, the hospital where Van Gogh spent a year and completed over a hundred paintings including Starry Night, Irises, many self-portraits, walking through the little room he occupied and more. Last year he was the featured artist at Carriers de Lumieres in La Bau Provence. There is a large cave in the mountains and the interior has been sculpted to facilitate the projection of his work that has been digitalized. Susan Fletcher wrote a charming book about Van Gogh’s stay in the hospital and much of it is based on his experience there. The title; Let Me Tell You About A Man I Know. It is written from the perspective of the hospital warden’s wife. A good read anytime.
