Claudia Alta “Lady Bird” Johnson was born on December 22, 1912 and died on July 11, 2007. Lady Bird Johnson was an American socialite and the First Lady of the United States (1963–1969) as the wife of the 36th President of the United States, Lyndon B. Johnson. She also served as the Second Lady of the United States.

Lady Bird Johnson had a lot to do with the Highway Beautification Act which is nicknamed the Lady Bird Bill to clean up the highways and add color and beauty. I’ve always loved flowers and enjoy wildflowers and had the privilege to live in Austin, Texas to see some of the things she helped implement. I do believe that flowers are a sign of hope. Being a spring child I do love when the buds start forming and flowers start to bloom in the promise of spring. If flowers didn’t bloom the environment would be much more colorless and dull. Flowers show life and vibrancy and hope.
